Vacancy for the Position of Chief Executive Officer Our Client, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) Kenya Branch, is a professional membership organization representing the interests of alternative dispute resolution practitioners. With over 14,000 members globally in more than 133 countries, CIArb is dedicated to promoting and advancing the use of arbitration and other forms of dispute resolution. The Client wishes to recruit a dynamic, visionary, and results-oriented individual with proven leadership experience to steer the Institute towards achieving its strategic objectives. The successful candidate will be appointed on a renewable three-year contract, subject to performance, and will be offered a competitive remuneration package. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) shall be responsible to the Governing Council for the implementation of policies, strategies, and objectives aimed at achieving the mission of CIArb Kenya Branch. The holder shall also oversee the day-to-day operations of the Institute, ensure prudent management of its resources, and promote growth in membership and institutional visibility both locally and internationally.
Responsibilities

Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for CIArb Kenya Branch.

Develop, implement, and monitor organizational policies, programs, and initiatives.

Oversee strategic planning and ensure effective execution of organizational goals.

Manage financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for sustainability.

Represent CIArb Kenya Branch in national, regional, and international forums.

Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and government institutions.

Oversee contracting, negotiating, and change management processes.

Lead communication and public relations activities to promote the organization’s visibility.

Supervise staff performance, build strong teams, and ensure effective human resource management.

Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and governance requirements.

Drive membership growth, engagement, and service delivery for CIArb members.

Report to and support the Governing Council in policy formulation and decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

A master’s degree in relevant fields such as law, political science, development studies, human rights, communication, management, or other related fields.

Having at least 12 years’ work experience, 5 of which must be in a leadership position.

Experience in strategic planning and execution at a senior level.

Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.

Knowledge of communication and public relations principles and practices, including the ability to represent the organization effectively.

Excellent ability in formal written and verbal communication. Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects.
